Work in the Research Group focuses on one area: temporal (diachronic) and spatial (dialectological) analysis of changes in the Late Latin period on the basis of the Computerized Historical Linguistic Database of Latin Inscriptions of the Imperial Age with the purpose of identifying hitherto undocumented processes leading to the emergence of the Romance languages (Principal Investigator: Béla Adamik). The research is going to be realized in collaboration with the Department of Humanities of Ca’Foscari University of Venice supported by the project ERC-2022-ADG 101098102, Digital Latin Dialectology (DiLaDi): Tracing Linguistic Variation in the Light of Ancient and Early Medieval Sources (09.1.2023-08.31.2028) within the Horizon program of the European Research Council (CORDIS webpage).
The Research Group was formerly known as Lendület (‘Momentum’) Research Group for Computational Latin Dialectology (01.07.2015–30.06.2021). For former members of the research group, cf. http://archive.nytud.hu/depts/fu/indexlendulet.html
